Lent is a significant time of spiritual reflection and preparation leading up to the celebration of Easter. At Peace Church, we invite you to join us in observing Lent 2013, as we engage in various programs and events that foster spiritual growth and deepen our faith.
Why Lent Matters
Lent is a season of forty days, excluding Sundays, that mirrors the forty days Jesus spent fasting in the desert. It is a time when Christians worldwide engage in practices such as prayer, fasting, and acts of service as a way to draw closer to God and reflect on the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
Participating in Lent offers an opportunity to pause, reflect, and re-center our lives around the teachings of Jesus. It is a time of both introspection and community, as we journey together towards renewal and transformation.
Our Lent 2013 Programs
1. Lenten Sermon Series: "Journey Towards Redemption"
During Lent 2013, Peace Church is hosting a powerful sermon series titled "Journey Towards Redemption." Each week, our skilled and passionate pastors will deliver messages that delve deep into the themes of repentance, forgiveness, and the ultimate redemption found in Jesus Christ.
Our sermons are designed to guide and inspire individuals on their personal spiritual journeys. Whether you are well-acquainted with the Christian faith or just exploring your own beliefs, our sermons provide a thought-provoking and uplifting space for reflection and growth.
2. Small Group Study: "Living with Lenten Devotion"
As part of our commitment to community, Peace Church is offering a small group study centered around the book "Living with Lenten Devotion." Led by experienced facilitators, these groups provide a supportive environment for shared learning and personal exploration.
This six-week study delves into various aspects of Lent, including prayer, fasting, and acts of service. Through guided discussions, group participants will gain a deeper understanding of the significance of Lent and discover practical ways to incorporate its teachings into their daily lives.
3. Stations of the Cross Art Exhibit: "Reflecting on Christ's Journey"
Experience the power and beauty of art as a medium for spiritual contemplation with our Stations of the Cross art exhibit. Local artists from the Peace Church community have crafted thought-provoking and intricate works that visually depict the journey of Jesus towards the cross.
This exhibit provides a unique opportunity to engage with the story of Christ's sacrifice on a visual level. As you move from station to station, you will witness different artistic interpretations of pivotal moments from Jesus' journey, allowing for deep reflection and emotional connection.
